General Information:
CBSE conducts All India Pre-Medical/Pre Dental Entrance Examination (AIPMT) to select candidates for 15% merit positions in medical and dental colleges all over India, according to the directives of the Supreme Court. It follows rules and regulations specified by Govt of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
CBSE prepares merit list equal to the number of seats available for MBBS and BDS courses, under 15% All India Quota. The students selected through AIPMT secure admission to these seats.
A waiting list is also released. For admission against drop out or vacant seats, if any, after the first counseling.
In case, candidates obtain equal marks, they are allotted seats in following order of preference:
• Candidate older in age, followed by
• Candidate with higher marks in Biology (combined scores of Botany & Zoology) in the entrance examination, followed by
• Candidate with higher marks in Chemistry.
AIPMT Test Patterns :-
AIPMT is held in two stages. stage I consists of all the four subjects( PCBZ) each havinng 50 questions making a total of 200 questions in a single paper.Time duration for the paper is 3 hours. All the questions are objective type.
Stage II consists of two papers, paper I contains Physics and Chemistry while paper II contains Zoology and Botany. each subject having 20 descriptive questions. Time duration for each paper is of 2 hours.
Eligibility for AIPMT:-
Nationality: Indian
States of Andhra Pradesh and J&K have opted out of this entrance examination, f r o m the time it begun. So, students of these states are not eligible.However, students who are not domiciled in these states and not seeking admission in medical or dental colleges of these states may apply along with an affidavit to that effect. The affidavit is to be made on Rs 10/- Non-Judicial Stamp Paper and needs to be attested by a First Class Judicial/Metropolitan Magistrate.
Minimum Age on 31st December of the year: 17 years
Maximum Age on 31st December of the year: 25 years
SC/ST/OBC students get relaxation of 5 years on upper age limit.
Maximum number of attempts allowed: 3
Test language:- English and Hindi.
Qualifications Required:
Applicants should have scored at least 50% marks at 10+2 level f r o m a recognized university/board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as subjects. SC/ST students are allowed to appear for exams, if they attain 40% or more in the qualifying examination.
B.Sc Examination of an Indian University provided that he / she has passed the B.Sc Examination with not less than two of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology) and further that he / she has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English
