About:-

F r o m the Academic Session 2004 - 2005, Indian Institutes of Technology have started conducting a Joint Admission test to M.Sc. (JAM) for admission to M.Sc. and other post-B.Sc.

programmes at the IITs. The JAM is open to all nationals (Indian/Foreign). Foreign nationals are required to satisfy the prevailing rules on the admission for foreign students of the Admitting Institute(s). Certain number of seats is reserved for the candidates belonging to various reserved categories in all programs. 15% seats are reserved for SC candidates, 7.5% seats are reserved for ST candidates. And 3% seats are reserved for Person with Disability (PD).

Eligibility:-

JAM qualified candidates have to fulfill eligibility criteria for admissions in IITs. Candidate should have at least 55% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PD category candidates in the qualifying degree.

There is no age restriction.

Exam Pattern:-

Test Papers for Biotechnology and Computer Applications are fully Objective Type. All other Test Papers are Objective-cum-Subjective Type. In each Test Paper, out of the total marks assigned to the Test Paper, objective and subjective questions carry weightages of 30% and 70%, respectively. The Objective type questions in all the Test Papers will have four choices as possible answers, of which, only one will be correct. There is negative marking for wrong answers to the Objective type questions in all the Test Papers. For wrong answer to an objective type question, candidates get negative 1/3 (negative one third) of the maximum marks assigned to that question.

How to Apply:-

One can register online for the test through the website http://www.iitk.ac.in/jam .

To apply offline application forms can be obtained f r o m selected branches of State Bank of India (SBI). Visit the website after notification for detail information about branches and other information regarding admission.
